My New Project

in order to solve my cluttering problem ^^' I still have a lot of felt fabrics from past project from my school, I decided to make something useful, fun and sell-able,

so for my next project will be involving this three...

colorful straws, felt and lots of small colorful chimes...

clue...

have a lot to do with cats... :D

and my Zzleep pijamas are still on..will be out anytime soon in new fun motives and soft colors.. for both pants and the tee... can't wait ^^

it's about a trend among American celebrity wearing turban 'again' after it was a trend in 2007

Salma Hayek wore a printed silk turban with her navy peplum dress to the Spring/Summer 2011 Stella McCartney fashion show for a unique look.

"Turban are a popular form of headgear worn in the Middle East, North Africa and Southwest Asia. They are designed to help keep the user cool in hot desert environments such as the Sahara."well I think it suitable for this 'global warming unpredictable season' with the wind and the hot weather at the same time even though we're not on a dessert.. one of the picture at Shine shows Sarah Jessica Parker wearing turban aaaaand a harem pants..it remind me a trend back in the late 80's - early 90's of MC Hammer, who was popular with the pants, and of course the 60's comedy TV series 'I Dream of Jeannie'

All this remind me of a knee length harem pants that i made a year ago for my Basic Pants class at Susan Budihardjo Jakarta, that I 'premierly' wear at last Jakarta Fashion Week 2010 ^^

I made it with a rayon fabrics for the loose and fall effect, mixed with batik for accent and motif

mix of the fabrics and motif, off white Rayon and green Batik motif

and also a little detail on the button.

Mili Vanilli

I made this character few years a go, with drawing pencil and no erasing, this kind'a unusual for me cos usually I don't have the confident to draw with other than regular pencil and i do a lot erasing, so the paper became dirty and all...

after I enter fashion design school, I got an assignment to draw a collection, and i have no clue what to draw.. I opened my sketch book, and i saw Mili.. so I draw her with a few improvisation, VOILA!

trip to JAKARTA FASHION WEEK 2010

Sessi called, asked me if I want to go to JFW 2010/2011. if I want to go, she told me to contact Astrid (Sessi's sister) to register through the internet, official Jakarta Fashion Week web site, and so I did, and Astrid registered me to 10 shows.

I went to the shows with the Simatupang sisters: Sessi, Astrid and Zheeta. So during this fahion week I stayed few days in Astrid's

We started from day 3 (Monday Nov 8th 2010),

So bad we couldn't make the Dekranasda show at 13.00 - 13.30 Dekranasda Show (Siti Haida,Arie Sistha, Wiwik Maskat, Amalia Agus, Inez Merdiana)

But we did go to 16.00 - 16.30 Batik 118 by Dee Ong show, the show wasn't as I expected, it was a 'so so' show or maybe it's just not my kind'a type of dress that I will wear...the idea of mixing batik and embroidery was good, but the design of whole dress wasn't quite OK, and the combination of the batik motives for each dress was common. It was a safe collection.

Day 4 (Tue 9th 2010), We go to

15.00 - 15.30 APPMI (Dian Pelangi, Hannie Hananto, Irna Mutiara, Najua Yanti, Nuniek Mawardi, Savitri, Yuyuk Nurmaisyah)

16.00 - 16.30 APPMI (WAW by Lenny Agustin)

WAW stands for What Are you Wearing is a ready to wear clothing such as t-shirt, skirts, shorts, jeans for men and women.. I don't really know the concept but I think clothing in Bandung are a lot more better than this.

17.00 - 17.30 APPMI (Adhyadma, Dwi Iskandar, Harry Lam, Hartono Gan, Mario and Jo by Vicki Soetono, Rudy Liem, Yunita Kosasih)

Day 5 (Wed, Nov 10th 2010)

15.00 - 15.30 APPMI (Afif Syakur, Defrico Audy, Dewi Syifa, Ian Adrian, Ledie Suwandie, Melia Wijaya, Ninik Darmawan)

I know Mrs. Ninik Darmawan about one and a half years ago, when she came to my house to meet my father to discussed about 'lurik' a traditional hand woven fabric from Java, back then I didn't know anything about her, now she's the head of APPMI Yogyakarta.. At this fashion week show she's showing 8 collections, all using blue and white lurik with combination of chiffon silk and matting for detail. The use of lurik on her collection remind me of the vest skirt that I made a year ago.

This is our last day for fashionweek rally, tiring but fun! and grateful and also thankful that we could be there at those shows, at that moment, seeing those great art work from those awesome designers. And I learn a lot.. thank to Astrid, the person that make it all happen.. and Sessi who take us here and there with her Silby (car) drive us through Jakarta's most busiest hour and Zheeta for my make up..hahaha..

Thank you to JFW2010/2011 committee for their hard work, hope they can do it better next year.

Let's see if I can be at the Jakarta Fashion Week's runaway next year..keep my finger cross. :3
